Turning the Page: Crafting the Inaugural Look for Possumtown Book Fest

When Friendly City Books approached us to help launch their first annual Possumtown Book Fest, we were thrilled to collaborate on an event to bring together literature, culture, and community. We aimed to design an engaging, cohesive visual identity for the festival to make a memorable impact and set the tone for future years. Since this was the inaugural Book Fest, we had the exciting challenge of creating an aesthetic from scratch that would represent the festival’s personality and resonate with attendees of all ages.

Our design concept for Possumtown Book Fest emphasized warmth, approachability, and creativity—values that align with Friendly City Books’ brand. We developed a unique visual style that would carry through all event materials, establishing a recognizable look and feel for the festival.

To ensure a consistent and eye-catching presence across both physical and digital spaces, we created a range of print and digital assets:

Poster

neonFROG created a vibrant, eye-catching poster to promote the event around the community. We emphasized the Bookfest’s unique identity, capturing attention and building excitement.

Rack Card

This compact, user-friendly event schedule was easy for attendees to carry with them. The rack card highlighted key sessions and made it simple for attendees to navigate their Book Fest experience.

Wayfaring Signage

From directional signs to venue markers, our wayfaring materials were designed to ensure guests could easily find their way around the event locations. Clear, stylish, and on-brand, these signs reinforced the Book Fest’s welcoming atmosphere.

Large Window Cling

To showcase the festival’s featured authors, we designed oversized window clings displayed at key spots around the venue that would catch the attention of community members walking or driving down Main Street. These visual elements not only introduced attendees to the event’s highlights but also helped create an immersive literary environment.

Social Media Posts

To generate buzz and connect with a broader audience, we developed a full suite of social media posts specifically tailored for Facebook and Instagram. This comprehensive campaign included everything from vibrant save-the-date graphics to detailed event posts, engaging featured author highlights, and sponsor spotlights that showcased the incredible support behind the event. Each post was carefully crafted to be visually appealing and shareable, maximizing reach and engagement. Through this strategic approach, we helped Friendly City Books build excitement, foster a sense of community, and create meaningful connections leading up to their event.

The Possumtown Book Fest’s debut was an incredible success, drawing a diverse crowd and firmly establishing the event as a key cultural highlight for the community. Our cohesive design approach not only created a visually appealing aesthetic that resonated with attendees but also helped Friendly City Books make a lasting and memorable first impression. The thoughtfully designed print and digital event materials worked seamlessly to enhance the overall experience, providing clear wayfinding, easy schedule management, and increased engagement throughout the day.

With the first Book Fest successfully behind us, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with Friendly City Books as we look ahead to the 2025 event. Our team is eager to build on the strong foundation of 2024’s visual identity, refining and expanding the event’s look while exploring new creative elements to make next year’s festival even more impactful. As Possumtown Book Fest grows, we are honored to help shape its identity, ensuring it continues to flourish as a cherished annual tradition that celebrates literature, creativity, and community spirit!
